A Marion man faces charges that he vandalized his parents’ house and set their car on fire near the Coralville Reservoir.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to an address on Williams Street…located between Interstate 380 and Highway 965 just north of the lake…just before 11:15 Thursday night for a residential alarm. While officers were en route, a neighbor called to report a car on fire at the same address.

Arriving deputies say they found 26-year-old Robin Oligmueller of Bentley Drive standing by the front door with blood on his hands and burn marks on his face. Oligmueller reportedly said he cut his hands using a hammer to break out almost all of the windows in his parents’ house. He also allegedly admitted to dousing the inside of the car with gasoline and setting it on fire. The parents later told investigators their son did not live at the house, and he was not allowed to be on the property.

In all, about 20 windows were broken with an estimated replacement cost of $6,000. The Pontiac Grand Prix was completely destroyed. Its estimated value was $3,000.

Oligmueller is charged with 2nd Degree Arson, 2nd Degree Criminal Mischief and 3rd Degree Burglary. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
