A Solon man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly assaulting a woman, then breaking into a neighboring apartment where the woman fled to get away from him.

The alleged incident occurred just before 1pm in the Iowa Street apartment of 21-year-old Corey Rote.  Authorities say he punched the woman several times in the face after he became angry because of a phone conversation he had with his father.

The womanwas able to get away and fled to the apartment next door. Rote reportedly chased after her, and broke into the apartment. He allegedly attempted to assault the neighbors and the woman again. The neighbors reportedly were able to restrain Rote and get him to calm down a little before deputies arrived.

Rote faces a Domestic Abuse Assault charge, and was also charged with 3rd degree Burglary for breaking into the next-door apartment.  If convicted on both counts, Rote could be sentenced to up to six years in prison.
