An Iowa City man faces child endangerment and weapons charges after one child in the man’s care shot another with his gun.
36-year-old Christopher Horras is charged with Making Firearms Available to a Minor, Child Endangerment and Child Endangerment Causing Serious Injury after a November 7th incident at his Foster Road residence. Iowa City Police say a small child was able to access a gun owned by Horras, then shot another child. Earlier reports indicate at least one of the children involved was five years old. The child who was shot suffered serious injuries.
Police say the loaded gun was easily accessible to the children, and Horras was on another floor of the house when the shooting occurred.
If convicted on all charges, Horras faces a maximum of 13 years in prison.
