An Iowa City woman faces charges that she used a baseball bat to shatter the windows of an apartment.

Iowa City Police were called to the Pheasant Ridge Apartments just after 10:30pm last Monday night for a subject who had broken out four windows with a bat while witnesses were inside. The tenant went outside and identified the suspect as 32-year-old Lynda Eagans.

Police had been to the residence earlier in the day for a reported assault just after 6:30pm. The same officers responded to the vandalism call, and reported seeing broken glass inside the residence that had not been there previously.

Officers then responded to Eagans’ residence on Bittersweet Court. She allegedly answered the door while holding the same baseball bat that had been described by witnesses at Pheasant Ridge. Police say Eagans admitted to calling police about the earlier altercation, and admitted to being at the apartment. She was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 7:45 Saturday night and charged with 4th Degree Criminal Mischief. If convicted, she faces a maximum of one year in jail.

Police say they have dealt with Eagans on previous occasions.
