An area transient was arrested on theft and burglary warrants after he allegedly took a child’s bicycle from an Iowa City grocery store.

According to the arrest report, 38-year-old Andre Horton was caught on camera at the 1st Avenue Hy-Vee the afternoon of February 6th taking an unattended child’s bicycle from the bike rack and riding off.

The bike, valued at $162, has yet to be located. The report also indicates that multiple officers identified Horton as the culprit due to what was described as their “extensive history” with him.

Warrants were issued for Horton’s arrest; he was taken into custody Thursday evening and charged with 3rd degree Burglary and 5th degree Theft. If convicted on both counts, Horton could be sentenced to over five years in prison.
