An Iowa City woman wanted for failing to appear on charges of assault is now facing more charges after she was arrested Wednesday.

Coralville Police  noticed a vehicle heading eastbound on the 800 block of Highway 6 just before 11:15 pm, traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was clocked at 60 in a 35 miles per hour zone. Upon contact, the driver, 21-year-old Ajahnay Allen of the Town and Campus Apartments, provided a false name to authorities. She was positively identified moments later.

A check of the woman’s driving record showed her status as revoked for OWI test refusal from November. When told she was under arrest, Allen allegedly refused to get inside the squad car, kicking the vehicle numerous times and had to be physically placed inside.

The woman was transported to Mercy Medical Center upon her request; while there, she attempted to run away from the two officers while handcuffed. She ran throughout the Emergency Room before she was caught and taken into custody again.

Once at the jail, Allen reportedly continued fighting with deputies.

She now faces several charges. They include the original warrants on OWI first offense and Assault on Peace Officers, plus Providing False ID, Driving while Revoked, Interference with Official Acts, Escape, and two moving violations. If convicted on all charges against her, Allen faces over four years in prison.
