An Iowa City man has been taken into custody on warrants after a search of his home turned up evidence of dealing drugs.

Police executed a search warrant on the Brown Street home of 26-year-old Bryton Jones the morning of July 21st. Authorities reportedly located over 20 grams of a controlled substance consistent with mushrooms. They also allegedly discovered over 150 grams of suspected marijuana.

Messages recovered from Jones’ phone indicated the sale of mushrooms. Officers also reportedly found a scale, baggies, and a large quantity of cash in his bedroom.

After the substances were sent to the crime lab for testing, a warrant was issued for Jones’ arrest on January 18th. He was located and taken into custody Wednesday night.

Jones faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted on all counts against him, including two Controlled Substance violations and two tax stamp violations.
