Several local businesses are raffling a whole hog to raise money for veterans who like to hunt.
The owners of Baxa’s Sutliff Store have donated the hog and processing fees. Raffle tickets are currently on sale at Baxa’s, the Solon American Legion, Ditto’s Family Restaurant in Stanwood and the Rusty Rench in Mechanicsville.
All proceeds will go to the Iowa Veterans Outdoor Experience, an organization formed by members of the Solon American Legion that allows veterans experiencing PTSD to hunt as a group.
The drawing is set for March 7th, with Ruzika’s in Solon doing the processing on March 12th.
The whole hog giveaway replaces this year’s Sutliff Golf tournament, which was cancelled due to the pandemic.
