Iowa City Fire Department responds to structure fire

The Iowa City Fire Department responded to a structure fire Thursday afternoon.

According to a release from the ICFD, they were called to 2128 South Riverside Drive just after 5 pm. Crews brought the fire under control within 30 minutes of arrival. An occupant of the home was able to safely exit and no injuries were reported.

Damage to the home is estimated at $30,000 and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Marshall. Off-duty Iowa City Firefighters, as well as personnel from the Coralville, Solon and West Branch fire departments were called in to backfill Iowa City fire stations while the crews remained on scene.
