Additional details have come out regarding an incident last month when an Iowa City woman was arrested on a parole violation for allegedly hiding a wanted suspect.
According to court documents, officers conducted a home visit at the Dakota Trail residence of 38-year-old Stephanie Eakes the evening of January 19th. She allegedly lied to officers regarding a wanted subject being present in the residence. She was taken into custody, as was the suspect.
The subject, identified as 36-year-old Randall Grandstaff of North Liberty, was wanted on warrants in Iowa and Johnson County. Authorities now report that Grandstaff reportedly threatened officers on scene by yelling at them to “get the eff out of here” and said if they didn’t, he would blow their effing heads off.
Officers allegedly located two devices in the bedroom Grandstaff was hiding. Iowa City Police Department bomb experts identified the devices as commercial grade fireworks that they said had the capability to cause injury to officers.
Grandstaff now faces additional charges of Possession of Explosives and 1st degree Harassment, which would add another 11 years to his sentence if convicted.
