A North Liberty man has been arrested after an early Friday morning police chase.
According to arrest records, North Liberty Police tracked a 2021 Ram 1500 Big Horn speeding at 60 miles per hour in a 45 mile-per-hour zone on North Liberty Road just before 1:45am. A traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle allegedly ignored the officer’s lights and siren and continued westbound on Penn Street. Police say the driver, later identified as 41-year-old Anthony Herring, continued on before finally stopping at his Watts Court residence.
Herring allegedly showed signs of intoxication, performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and registered breath alcohol levels of .190% and .192%. He was arrested and charged with Eluding and Operating While Intoxicated. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of two years in jail.
