A Cedar Rapids man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing his father in the early hours Friday.
According to a release from police, officers were dispatched at 3:47 am to the 4000 block of Wilson Avenue Southwest on reports of a stabbing. Officers located 65-year-old Jonathan Youngbear suffering from a stab wound to his abdominal area. The man was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Initial investigation indicates that Youngbear and his son, 26-year-old Jared Youngbear, were in a verbal argument that escalated to the point where the son stabbed his father.
Jared Youngbear was arrested on charges of Attempted Murder, Willful Injury, and Domestic Abuse Assault with a weapon causing Injury. If convicted on all counts, Jared Youngbear could be sentenced to up to 37 years in prison.
