A wanted Iowa City man was arrested Monday night after leading police on a brief chase on his bicycle.

Iowa City Police say they tried to stop 33-year-old Adam Vanourney of Amhurst Street for a pedestrian traffic violation just after 5pm near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Boyrum Street. He allegedly began pedaling away when he saw the officer, and ignored commands to stop. Vanourney crashed his bike after a brief chase and was taken into custody. Police say a meth pipe with white residue was found on his person.

Vanourney is charged with Interference With Official Acts and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 60 days in jail.

Vanourney was wanted after Coralville Police say security video shows him burglarizing a car at Latitude on East 7th Street last October. For that incident, he faces a 3rd Degree Burglary of a Motor Vehicle charge, which carries a maximum sentence of two years in jail upon conviction.

Vanourney was also wanted for allegedly skipping sentencing and probation revocation hearings stemming from previous theft charges.
