An Iowa City man faces charges that he shot his landlord, who had been inside the man’s residence to fix plumbing.
Iowa City Police say the landlord made arrangements to come to a house on Fairchild Street to fix a plumbing issue on December 21st. Just after 9:45 that morning the landlord knocked on a bedroom door to access the plumbing in that room when 24-year-old Carter Wolf allegedly fired six or seven shots at the landlord through his bedroom door. Police note the door through which Wolf shot was not the one on which the landlord had been knocking.
Wolf allegedly later admitted to shooting through the door, and that he never saw the landlord because the door was closed.
The landlord was hit by multiple bullets, requiring immediate surgery.
Wolf was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 8:45 Monday night and charged with Reckless Use of a Firearm Causing Serious Injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
