A Solon woman faces charges that she left the scene of a hit-and-run drunk driving accident on the night of New Year’s Eve.
Witnesses reported a dark-colored pickup had struck a parked vehicle near the intersection of Crestview Drive and Viking Drive just before 9:45 Friday night, then fled southbound. A Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy located a 2019 RAM 1500 Big Horn with front-end damage parked at a nearby residence on Crestview Drive. Investigators say a subject came out of the house and told the deputy that the driver, identified as 44-year-old Alisha Fordice, had gone inside to sleep.
Fordice allegedly showed signs of intoxication and admitted to drinking earlier in the night, then driving home from her friend’s residence. Police say Fordice told them she did not consume alcohol after arriving home. Fordice allegedly admitted she had been driving the damaged truck. She was reportedly unable to complete any of the field sobriety testing, and her breath alcohol content was measured at .154%.
Fordice is charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense and Failure to Maintain Control. Police say she failed to notify the owner of the other vehicle that she had damaged their car.
