A transient faces charges that he hit a nurse, then challenged employees at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics to fight him.
Iowa City Police took 36-year-old Darius Stuart to the UIHC Thursday night after he allegedly tried to fight people while intoxicated. Once at the facility, Stuart allegedly struck a nurse who was trying to provide care. Police say he then began swinging wildly at his care providers while demanding they fight him.
Stuart was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 9:45 Thursday night and charged with Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations and Public Intoxication. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of 13 months in jail.
