The second man accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a fraternity party in September of 2020 has denied the allegations.

The Press-Citizen reports that Jacob Meloan is the other man involved in the suit brought by UI student Makena Solberg. Carson Steffen of North Liberty and Meloan both admit to engaging in sexual activity with the alleged victim, but say the activity was consensual.

Solberg says that the two frat members planned and conspired to lure her into one of their bedrooms and sexually assaulted her when she was intoxicated, physically impaired, and unable to consent to the activity. Solberg was allegedly recorded and photographed without her permission, and images reportedly became widely circulated.

Both men were members of the FIJI fraternity, but were asked to leave shortly after the incident. Neither are currently enrolled at the University of Iowa.

Steffen has been formally charged by Iowa City Police with Harassment; Meloan has not been charged, and police indicate that they are not planning on filing any further charges in the case. Meloan is representing himself in court.
