A Cedar Rapids business suffered major fire damage Tuesday night.
According to a release from the city’s Fire Department, crews were dispatched to Johnson Gas Appliances on the 500 block of E Avenue Northwest around 10pm.
Arriving firefighters found smoke and fire showing from the roof of the two-story building. It took about two hours to bring the fire under control, but crews remained on scene to extinguish hot spots throughout the night.
No one was inside when the fire began. The majority of the property suffered severe fire, smoke and water damage. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
