Telethon at Lexington KY station raises millions for tornado relief

Iowa head football coach Kirk Ferentz called for Hawkeye fans to donate to a telethon hosted by a Lexington Kentucky TV station and University of Kentucky Athletics that ran Tuesday afternoon.

The telethon was a rousing success.

LEX 18 and University of Kentucky Athletics joined together to host a “Kentucky United Tornado Disaster Relief Telethon” telethon and raised $3,173,735 on Tuesday. The proceeds will go to the American Red Cross to benefit victims of the tornadoes that hit Western Kentucky.

The telethon was hosted form the Kroger Field Recruiting Room sharing live spots with UK coaches and athletes throughout the event.
