An area transient has been arrested after allegedly stealing a woman’s vehicle.
According to authorities, the victim woke up Sunday morning at her residence on the 2100 block of Taylor Drive and noticed her 2012 Chevy Cruze was missing from her driveway. At the same time she reported her car being stolen, police were on scene dealing with 30-year-old Joseph Parsons on a separate issue.
During a probable cause search of Parsons, police located the victim’s key fob in his pockets. Parsons allegedly refused to tell police the location of the vehicle, saying he didn’t know where it was.
The victim stated that Parsons had no consent to have her vehicle.
Parsons was arrested and charged with 2nd degree theft, a Class D felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.
