Allegedly threatening his family with a hammer has led to a felony charge against an Iowa City man.

The online Iowa City Police activity log shows officers were called to the Catskill Court residence of 36-year-old Eric Bronson twice on Friday. The first call came just before 2pm, when a caller said a subject was making threats and would catch her if he found her on the phone. The second call simply asked for an officer to respond to the residence because the caller couldn’t stay on the line. Police say a man could be heard yelling in the background of the second call.

Responding officers found Bronson and a woman inside the residence. The woman claimed Bronson had threatened to smash her head in with a hammer, as well as smash in her car with the hammer. Children on the scene reportedly corroborated the woman’s story. The woman also said Bronson had repeatedly destroyed items in the house in the past.

Bronson was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault – 3rd or Subsequent Offense. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
