A Coralville man faces charges that he was found with a gun and drugs in his car for the second time this year.

26-year-old Willie McGee of Boston Way was arrested last April on charges that he was found with a loaded Glock, numerous baggies of marijuana and packages of MDMA in his car parked on the 900 block of Boston Way. McGee, who was with a juvenile at the time, drew the attention of police after he allegedly threatened another subject with the gun.

McGee was given a deferred judgment on a felony drug charge. Weapons charges were dropped.
Coralville Police pulled over McGee’s 2014 Hyundai Elantra just after 9pm Thursday on the 500 block of the Coralville Strip. A police K9 alerted on the vehicle, and officers say inside McGee’s jacket they discovered a Beretta 9mm handgun with six rounds inside the magazine and one in the chamber. The jacket also allegedly contained a pink baggie with three grams of marijuana inside.

McGee was arrested and charged with Possession of Firearm by a Felon and Possession of a Controlled Substance. If convicted on both charges, he faces a maximum of six years in prison.
