An area transient was arrested this week on a warrant stemming from a November incident where she collected on a check twice.

Police say that 34-year-old Adriana Celis made a mobile deposit through Midwest One Bank on a check totaling over $4800 the afternoon of November 12th. She then allegedly took the physical check and had it cashed at the Acapulco Mexican Bakery.

Authorities confirmed the sequence of events with the bank and the business, and Celis reportedly admitted that she cashed the check after making the mobile deposit. The business reached out to her, asking for the money back, but she reportedly stated that she did not have enough money to pay them.

A warrant was issued for her arrest December 3rd. Celis was booked into the Johnson County Jail at 3:41am Friday. She’s been charged with 2nd Degree Theft, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison sentence of up to five years if convicted.
