A jack-knifed semi on northbound I380 overnight blocked traffic for several hours.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 52-year-old Stephen Early of Winter Haven Florida lost control of his 2016 Peterbuilt semi around 1:10 am Friday between the Forevergreen Road and Penn Street exits, causing the truck and trailer to jackknife and block both lanes of traffic.
A 2019 Freightliner driven by 64-year-old Jesse Green of Clarence Iowa was also traveling northbound, and drove through the side of Early’s trailer before coming to a rest in the median.
Both Early and Green were injured. They were transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by the Johnson County Ambulance Service; their conditions are unknown.
The accident remains under investigation. Northbound traffic had returned to normal by 4:15 am.
