An Iowa City woman was taken to the Johnson County Jail Monday after allegedly assaulting a city bus driver.
The incident allegedly took place in the 10 block of East Washington Street Monday just after 11 am. 28-year-old Porscha Curry of the Town and Campus Apartments reportedly came up behind the driver and pulled her ponytail while the bus was stopped. The two then went to the floor. According to the victim, Curry was trying to punch and kick her repeatedly while she was on the ground.
Another driver came to the woman’s aid and police were called. The incident was recorded on the bus video system, and the driver reported pain in her leg and that her earring came out during the altercation.
No motive for the alleged attack was given.
Curry was arrested and charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to one year.
