Iowa City Police have arrested a Cedar Rapids man wanted for allegedly stealing a gun from Scheels in Coralville.

According to arrest records, officers stopped a 2014 Nissan Altima being driven by 19-year-old Isiah Mally of Woodland Court NW for driving without headlights on the 200 block of East Court Street just after 2:45 Saturday morning. He allegedly showed signs of intoxication, admitted to drinking, and registered breath alcohol levels of .127% and .120%.

Police say Mally initially gave them a fake name, and his car smelled of burnt marijuana. A search of the vehicle’s trunk turned up 53.3 grams of marijuana and a scale in a backpack.

Mally was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, and Providing False Identity Information.

Arresting officers learned Mally was wanted for allegedly stealing an airsoft gun from Scheels in the Coral Ridge Mall on June 2nd. Coralville Police say Mally took the $120 gun out of its packaging, concealed it on his person, then left the store without paying. He now faces an additional charge of 5th Degree Theft.

If convicted on all charges, Mally faces a maximum of over seven years in prison.
