A two-car accident on Highway 1 Monday resulted in a fatality.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2003 Chevy Malibu was traveling northbound near the intersection with Fox Lane north of I80 when a deer ran into its path and was struck. The Malibu then crossed the center line and hit a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville head on.
The driver of the Bonneville was killed; the Malibu driver was injured. The names of the parties involved are currently being withheld pending family notifications.
The accident remains under investigation by the State Patrol.
