Transient arrested in IC home burglary case

A transient has been charged for allegedly burglarizing an Iowa City residence.

Iowa City Police say 38-year-old Andre Horton entered a residence at the Town & Campus Apartments on Arthur Street around 4:30pm on September 21st and stole two cellphones and a tablet. The total value of the stolen items is listed at $1,250.

Police say Horton later admitted to the burglary, which was captured on surveillance video. He’s charged with 3rd Degree Burglary and 3rd Degree Theft. If convicted on both charges, Horton faces a maximum of seven years in prison.
