Allegedly lying on required forms for purchasing firearms has led to a North Liberty woman’s arrest.

28-year-old Taneika Clark of Savannah Drive was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 10:45 Friday night. Iowa City Police say Clark purchased two Ruger pistols from Scheels in Coralville on April 14th. As part of the purchase, she allegedly indicated on required forms that she was not a user of illegal drugs. In February of 2019, she signed similar paperwork with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office to receive a permit to carry.

Clark was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Carrying a Firearm While Ineligible last September. At that time, she allegedly admitted that she used controlled substances regularly for 14 years, with a brief six-month abstinence in late 2018/early 2019.

Clark is now charged with Giving False Information to Acquire a Weapon and Making a False Statement for a Permit to Carry a Weapon. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of ten years in prison.
