Don’t have a ticket for Saturday’s homecoming game? You can get in for free if you agree to volunteer.
The Gazette reports that University of Iowa Athletics Department employees and UI Staff Council members have been sent an email requesting game day volunteers to work the gates, premium club areas, and sections for disabled fans.
The university contracts with Contemporary Services Corporation for staffers and Aramark for concession workers. However, the companies are feeling the same staffing crunch other companies are facing nationwide. For the remaining three home games, Kinnick is looking at a personnel deficit of 15 to 20 percent.
According to the newspaper, volunteers will get free parking, access to premium seating areas, and a meal. Gate workers only need to work through the first quarter, but others will be expected to stay into the fourth quarter.
