An Iowa City woman has been arrested after police say she stole a car, used several credit and debit cards left inside, and may have set it on fire.
35-year-old Bridget Dual of Sycamore Street was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 2:30 Thursday afternoon. Iowa City Police say surveillance video from a gas station shows Dual operating a motor vehicle that was reported stolen from a parking garage on the 400 block of South Johnson Street on the night of August 25th.

Dual also allegedly used several credit and debit cards that were left inside the vehicle, racking up over $600 in purchases from the Iowa City Walgreen’s and the Tiffin Kum & Go. Other attempted transactions were declined. Police say three different people identified Dual as the suspect after they sent out a media release with still photos of Dual using the stolen cards. One of those who identified Dual was a member of her own family.

The stolen car was eventually found in Des Moines, burnt and unrecognizable.

Dual is charged with 1st Degree Theft, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Owners’ Consent and Unauthorized Use of Credit Cards Under $1,500. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of 14 years in prison.
