An Oxford teenager with a history of mischief has been arrested again after allegedly spitting on a convenience store employee.

Police say the incident involved 18-year-old Cameron Neuzil of Oxford at the Kum & Go, 323 East Burlington Street in downtown Iowa City. Friday night just before 10:30, there was an alleged verbal altercation between Neuzil and a clerk there that escalated to the point where Neuzil spat at the clerk without provocation and fled on foot.

An officer located Neuzil and took him into custody. Afterwards, another unrelated incident was taking place with other officers in the vicinity. The officer told Neuzil to sit down for his safety. Instead, Neuzil allegedly pushed off a concrete block with his foot and pulled away. The officer grabbed his arm, but Neuzil continued to pull away until the officer tripped him and placed him on the ground. Neuzil then reportedly tried to kick the officer. Other officers arrived to get control of Neuzil.

He was charged with assault, interference with official acts, and assault on persons in certain occupations. He faces up to 14 months in jail if convicted.

This isn’t the first incident of Neuzil spitting at someone. On July 31st, he and two other suspects were at the 1st Avenue Walgreens just after 4pm allegedly causing problems. The three reportedly spit at the reporting party. Neuzil was located at a nearby Kum & Go and allegedly showed signs of intoxication, registered a blood-alcohol content of .177, and had two open bottles of liquor in his car.

While being processed for that charge, Neuzil allegedly spit on an officer and kicked a computer desk. He faces OWI, 4th degree Criminal Mischief, and Assault on Persons in Certain Occupations charges for those incidents. A case management conference is scheduled for November 15th; he faces up to three years in prison if convicted on all counts.

On August 22nd, Neuzil was one of two suspects who were reportedly trying to break into a vehicle in Tiffin. A sheriff’s deputy located him in the vicinity of the reported break in, and he reportedly registered a .117 blood alcohol percentage when taken into custody. That case is currently in review; Neuzil faces up to 14 months in jail if convicted on Public Intoxication, Interference with Official Acts, and Attempted Burglary charges.
