Cedar Rapids police have issued a warrant for a man accused of murder in connection with a Saturday night shooting.

Officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of 21st Avenue Southwest at 11:30 pm Saturday after a caller reported hearing numerous gunshots and seeing a subject on the ground.

Arriving police found a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds who died at the scene. He has been identified as 40-year-old Jose Landin. The scene was secured and witnesses were interviewed.

According to updated details from the CRPD,  Landin was in a parking lot with acquaintances cooking out when a vehicle with occupants arrived. After a short visit, Landin walked away from the group between two garages, followed by 44-year-old Nestor Dominguez. Witnesses then reported hearing several gunshots. Dominguez reportedly returned, stated, “It’s done, let’s go” and tucked a handgun into his waistband.
