1 killed, 2 injured in West Liberty after train hits car

One person was killed and two more injured after a car was hit by a train in West Liberty.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2020 Volkswagen Atlas was traveling northbound on Columbus Street just after 2pm Saturday when it crossed the tracks and was struck by a train. A 26-year-old was killed, and a 27-year-old and eight-month-old were transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

No names or conditions of those injured have been released. The incident remains under investigation.
