DNR seeks public’s assistance in Linn County tubing incident that sent CR man to UIHC

A Cedar Rapids man remains in stable condition at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a tubing accident on the Cedar River, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources wants more information on how it happened.

According to a DNR news release, the agency’s Law Enforcement Bureau continues to seek the public’s assistance with any tips or information related to a tubing incident on the Cedar River at Mohawk Park on August 15th.

The incident happened around 2pm, when a personal watercraft operated by 38-year-old Richard Burns of Cedar Rapids was towing an inflatable tube with a passenger, 41-year-old Isaac Blazek, when the tube hit a pontoon boat parked on-shore. Blazek suffered serious injuries, but remains in stable condition at the UIHC.
