ICPD responds to shots fired on Bittersweet Court

Iowa City Police are investigating a shots fired incident on Bittersweet Court.
According to an ICPD news release, officers responded to the 2400 block of Bittersweet Court just before 5pm Friday for a female reporting that another female tried to shoot her. Officers located the victim, who reported another female approached her, began arguing with her, pulled out a handgun, and attempted to shoot her. A shell casing and property damage from the bullet were located at the scene, and witnesses told officers they saw another person fire a gun at the victim.

On Saturday the victim reported finding a bullet in her room.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned female with very short or shaved hair, slender build, wearing a black jacket and blue, black, and white shirt.

Online records show police were called to the same block of Bittersweet Court for a suspicious male. The caller said she had armed herself with a knife for protection.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the ICPD at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact police with any potential footage or information about this incident.
