North Liberty man arrested on assault warrant after allegedly threatening to kill victim

A North Liberty man wanted on an assault warrant from a January incident has been taken into custody.

According to police, the incident occurred on the 6th at a residence on Woodbine Lane. 28-year-old James Stewart of Elm Ridge Court allegedly was involved in a physical altercation, when he allegedly used his fists, feet and a kitchen chair to assault the victim. He also reportedly said he was going to kill the victim.

A warrant was issued, and Stewart was picked up Tuesday afternoon. He’s been charged with Assault with Intent to Inflict Serious Injury, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to two years if convicted.
