ICPD: Dozens of shell casings found at scene of weekend shots fired incident

Iowa City Police are investigating a shots fired incident on the city’s southeast side, including dozens of shell casings found at the scene.

According to an ICPD news release, officers responded to the 500 block of South Scott Boulevard at 4:10 Sunday morning for a report of multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, investigators found over 50 shell casings, indicating multiple weapons were fired. Police located damage to vehicles and buildings in the area, but no injuries have been reported.

No arrests have been made, and police do not believe this is a random event.

The incident is being actively investigated by the ICPD, and they are asking the public for assistance. Anyone with information is asked to contact the ICPD at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the ICPD with any potential footage or information about the incident.
