“Person of interest” in custody after overnight CR shooting

A “person of interest” has been taken into custody after an overnight shooting in Cedar Rapids.

According to a news release, Cedar Rapids Police were called to 1640 F Avenue NW just before 4am Saturday for a subject who had been shot. Officers arrived on the scene and located a male victim suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Officers were able to render medical aid before the male was transported to a local hospital. Officers collected evidence from the scene and interviewed witnesses. They were also able to take a person of interest into custody at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and no other information has yet been released.
