An Iowa City woman has been arrested after she allegedly took money orders from her place of employment for personal use.

According to reports, 23-year-old Makala Walker of The Quarters on Highway 6 East was caught on camera at the Waterfront Drive HyVee committing the alleged thefts on three separate occasions.

Walker is accused of taking a $724 money order on June 4th, and $800 money orders on June 10th and June 19th. She reportedly took the money orders and left the store with them.

Walker allegedly admitted to taking the money orders and putting them into her bank account.

She was arrested on Wednesday morning and charged with Second Degree Theft. If convicted, Walker faces up to five years in prison. After an initial appearance Thursday, she was released on her own recognizance pending arraignment.
