Pretrial release has been revoked for a Marion man accused of spying on women inside of their Iowa City residences.

Online records show 40-year-old Patrick Martinson of 3rd Avenue is accused of violating a no-contact order in Linn County on June 30th. That violated the terms of his release, and Martinson was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 8:15 Monday morning.

Martinson faces numerous charges after several alleged incidents last fall. The first occurred around 3am on October 17th, on the 300 block of South Dodge Street, when he allegedly spied on a partially-nude woman through a window. At about 2:30am on October 22nd, the same woman reported seeing a flashlight outside her bedroom window. Martinson allegedly asked the woman to open her blinds, take off her shirt, and masturbate with him. Seven minutes later another woman on the 500 block of South Johnson Street reported seeing a flash outside her window as she was partially undressed in bed. She observed the suspect’s truck leaving the area.

Three days later, just after 3am, the second woman again noticed a flash outside her window as she was lying partially nude in bed. This time the woman called the police, who stopped Martinson as he was leaving the area. He was driving a truck similar to the one reported three days earlier.

Investigators used GPS information from Martinson’s phone and surveillance video from the surrounding area to tie Martinson to the incidents. The video also shows Martinson parking behind a sorority which had reported a prowler at about the same time as the other incidents.

Martinson faces four counts of Invasion of Privacy and one count each of Intentional Trespass and Indecent Exposure. If convicted on all charges, Martinson faces up to ten years in prison.
