Iowa City Police say a transient trespassed at his daughter’s house, used the toilet without permission, was found in possession of marijuana, and tried to smuggle methamphetamine into the Johnson County Jail by hiding it under his scrotum.

Officers were dispatched to a residence on Petsel Place just before 3am Saturday after a caller said his wife’s father was there bothering the family and trying to get into the house. Investigators learned that 56-year-old Robert Lucas entered the residence and locked himself in the bathroom for several minutes while he used the toilet. Lucas left the bathroom after several minutes, but a meth pipe was found hidden inside. Lucas claimed he’d never seen the pipe before, and said he had no meth on his person. However, police did find him in possession of a small baggie of marijuana.

Lucas was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Lucas was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 3:30am. Sheriff’s deputies say Lucas denied having any other drugs on his person, but jail intake staff say they found two small baggies of meth under his scrotum. He now faces additional charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense and Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Institution. If convicted on all charges, Lucas faces a maximum of 11 years in prison.

Lucas has previous meth convictions, both for possession and the manufacturing of it.
