A North Liberty man was taken into custody Thursday after a vehicle he was riding in was impounded, revealing that he had a weapon.

Police stopped a black 2007 Audi in the 1700 block of 5th Street in Coralville just after noon for a traffic stop. It was determined that the vehicle would be impounded for an investigation, and 19-year-old Albert Price of Hickory Street was asked out of the vehicle.

Price was a passenger in the Audi, and an officer allegedly observed the butt of a pistol magazine concealed in his waistband. The officer reportedly asked Price if he had any weapons on him, but he said now.

A pat-down discovered a loaded black Glock 26 9 mm handgun. Price allegedly admitted that he had no permit to carry the weapon, and refused to say who the gun belonged to or where he got it.

Price was taken into custody and charged with Carrying Weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor.
