ICPD: 2 people shot on Cross Park, suspects still at large

Iowa City Police are looking for the suspect who shot two people on Cross Park Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

According to an ICPD news release, officers were called to the Villa Garden Apartments just before 2pm for a report of multiple gunshots and possible victims. Arriving officers found two men with what were believed to be non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The two were taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Their conditions have not been released.

At this time, the victims have not cooperated with police, but witnesses reported seeing at least two dark-skinned men running from the area after the shots were fired. Police have not located the two individuals, but believe the shooting was not a random event.

The incident is being actively investigated by the Iowa City Police Department and we are asking the public for assistance. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the Iowa City Police Department with any potential footage or information about this incident.
