Iowa City Mayor Bruce Teague announced Thursday that he will run again for election to the City Council.
Teague has been on the council since 2018, when he won a seat during a special election. He was elected mayor by the Council in 2020.
In a statement released with the announcement, Teague said he hopes people have seen how hard he’s worked to listen to all voices, and looks forward to advancing past a difficult time towards “a period of growth, healing and betterment for (the city’s) future.”
Three council seats are expiring this year; Teague’s, Mayor Pro-Tem Mazahir Salih, and council member Susan Mims. Mims has announced she won’t seek re-election.
Megan Alter and Jason Glass have previously announced plans to run for Council.
Voting takes place this November 2nd.
