A North Liberty man was taken into custody on a nearly two-year-old warrant for taking an incarcerated man’s EBT card and selling it off.

According to arrest reports, the victim was in jail, and evicted from the Iowa Lodge. While incarcerated, his EBT card was used at a number of different stores in August of 2019, with nearly $400 used while the man was in custody.  Video surveillance identified the person using the card, and he advised authorities that someone named Brad sold him the card.

Property management at the Iowa Lodge identified the “Brad” as 48-year-old Bradley McDannald of Golfview Court in North Liberty. He was allegedly the one who cleaned out the prisoner’s apartment.

The individual who used the EBT card was shown a photo line-up, and he identified McDannald as the one who sold him the card.

A warrant was issued for McDannald’s arrest, and he was booked at the Johnson County Jail Monday afternoon. He’s been charged with 4th degree Theft, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year.
