A pair of sisters is accused of beating an Iowa City woman in front of her own home.
A passing Iowa City Transit bus driver reported seeing two women attacking another woman in the street at the corner of Burlington and Dodge Streets just before 10am on May 21st. The two were captured fleeing the scene on the bus’s security video. The bloodied victim got on the bus and took it to Mercy Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Investigators determined the vehicle in which the women fled belonged to 20-year-old Lynia Woodson of South Dodge Street. A warrant was issued for her arrest, and Woodson was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 4:15 Saturday afternoon.
Police determined that Woodson and her sister, Jasmine Woodson, drove to the victim’s Burlington Street residence and waited for her to come outside, at which point they allegedly jumped her. Lynia Woodson has had a prior run-in with the woman. She’s charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of one year in jail.
Online records indicate Jasmine Woodson has yet to be charged.
