A 45-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries after rolling her vehicle Saturday morning.

Cedar Rapids Police say they got a report of a single vehicle rollover crash at 8:11 am off Stewart Road and Thompson Street Southeast. The driver wasn’t seriously hurt and was able to get out of her vehicle before first responders arrived.

The woman reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, and had nodded off at a relative’s house earlier after getting off work that morning.

The Cedar Rapids Police posted the incident on their Facebook page, reminding people that drowsy driving can be just as dangerous as drunk driving. Studies have shown that lack of sleep can make drivers less alert and can affect their coordination, judgement and reaction time.
