Coralville man accused of installing spy cameras in his home to record woman staying there while he was out of the country

A Coralville man has been charged with Invasion of Privacy after allegedly installing a spy camera in his bathroom to record videos of a woman who he invited to stay in his home while he was out of the country on vacation.

According to the police report, 66-year-old Roy Rodriquez invited the victim to house-sit while he was gone in April. After several days of staying in the home, the woman discovered a motion-activated “spy camera installed in the bathroom that had been recording videos of her, her family and friends in various states of undress as they used the restroom and showered. The videos were just since Rodriguez left the country, indicating that he cleared the memory card prior to his leaving.

A warrant was requested on May 10th and he was arrested early Tuesday.

Invasion of Privacy is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail term of up to two years.
