A local transient faces animal abuse and other charges after she allegedly kicked a dog during a domestic dispute.

Coralville Police were called to a residence on 6th Street just after 8:15 Saturday night, where 34-year-old Crystal Porter was allegedly fighting with the father of her child. Porter initially left the scene in an Uber, but returned a few minutes later. Police say she pushed her way into the residence and assaulted the man, tearing his shirt. She then allegedly kicked the man’s dog and dragged it outside by its neck.

Arriving officers say Porter showed multiple signs of intoxication and refused multiple police commands. She was arrested and charged with Aggravated Animal Abuse, Domestic Abuse Assault, Public Intoxication, and Interference With Official Acts. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of 27 months in jail.
